The wait was nothing short of agony.
"Enter." The voice called coolly, making him startle slightly. He gritted his teeth, angry at his inability to control himself; he was in no way the disciplined warrior he was trying to portray, but it was too late to turn back now. An icy knot formed his chest, filling him with foreboding. He did not think this would go well.

Anjhi was so tiny and perfect in his eyes. Shiirs heart fluttered and ached at how much she resembled his departed mate. He bent over the cradle and planted a tender kiss on her small forehead.
But his gentle touch awoke Anjhi and she opened sleepy eyes with a yawn, just as a tiny hand grabbed some of his hair.
